A long time ago, whenever we encountered any medical dilemma, we used to call our local doctor for relief. Gone are those days when doctors used to arrive and prescribe medications for our illness. Presently, Google has taken over the role of a doctor helping people providing solutions to several illnesses and diseases before heading to the emergency room for treatment.
- In an interview, head of the Google health, Dr. David Feinberg said, “ We are where people start their healthcare journey. And we are open 24/7”. Dr. Google as it is presumably called today is continuing to improve the kind of information and assistance people can get through the internet.
- The platform aggregates patient knowledge into one streamlined way searchable by medical professionals. It will consolidate data from BIDMC’s own medical record system, along with other inputs including digital notes, scanned documents, and handwritten notes, filling a current void for such a unifying system.
- An added way in which Google is advancing into the healthcare platform is through different initiatives concerning artificial intelligence (AI). In both India and Thailand, the company is examining an automated system that can read retinal scans and identify which patients are suffering from diabetic retinopathy, dermatological problems, and other internal infirmities.
- Feinberg told Forbes,” At this point, I’d still call it a pilot, but we have live patient data with doctors, and we think we’ll be able to change care for people. They won’t get tests they’ve already had because the doc couldn’t find them. They won’t get asked questions they’ve been asked 100 times because that information will be available. We hope it’ll lead not only to better-featured care but more time with your doctor.”
