With the advent of “Predictions,” a new tool on Reddit, users will be able to publish to their communities in a new way. The forecasts, which are based on popular Reddit polls, allow users to guess the answers to questions like “who will win the game tomorrow?” “which character will meet his fate in the next episode?” and “how much will the price of Bitcoin rise on Monday?”
- Boost up: This is the first new post style Reddit has launched in two years, and it’s intended to boost engagement on the network by lowering the barrier to posting, according to the company. While some users may be hesitant to post openly or participate in debates, they can still take the time to complete a survey or, more recently, make a prediction.
- Creation: A moderator must first create a Prediction Tournament before using the tool on a Reddit community or subreddit. Reddit users are asked to predict the answers to a series of questions. The tournament can include as many questions as the moderator likes, and they can keep adding new ones after the tournament has begun.
- Strategy: When a Reddit user joins the Prediction Tournament, they will receive 1,000 tokens. These are available for no cost: According to Reddit, there is no plan to establish a monetization strategy for tokens soon. However, once the 1,000 tokens have been utilized, users will be unable to obtain additional tokens during the tournament. That means players must gamble intelligently on all guesses or risk losing their ability to answer subsequent questions if they run out of time.
- Participation: Prior to today’s official launch, Reddit had been testing the feature, with over 1 million people participating in prediction competitions. The Oscar Prediction Tournament in r / movies, which attracted 100,000 participants, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix Prediction Tournament in r / Formula 1, which attracted 200,000, and the Eurocup 2020 Prediction Tournament in r / soccer, which attracted more than 300,000, were all popular tournaments.
- Predictions: There are a lot of apps for generating predictions with friends in various categories of the App Store, most of them are sports-related. There are also Stories filters for personal forecasts and other prediction games on social media. Last year, software developer Wishbone Mammoth Media released a little Snapchat game called Prediction Master for Snapchat users.
